Dear (Employer Name) Here,
(single blank line)
Salutation: Address the person reading your letter. If you cannot find this person's name, be sure to at least address the proper job title. Avoid impersonal greetings such as Dear Sir/Madam.
I've served as the "right arm" for senior executives for nearly twenty years. Although I don't have the associate degree you request, you will find that my soft skills, secretarial, and office management skills are superior. Opening Paragraph: Should clearly indicate which position is being applied for and address shortcomings with strengths that make up for these.
(single blank line)
I'm proficient in Windows 9x through WindowsXP, as well as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases applications. I'm also proficient in shorthand and dictation, scanners, copiers, and fax machines. Body: List further strengths that would place you above the rest of the applicants. Don't include any extras, it will only slow down the person reading the letter. Be short and to the point with everything.
(single blank line)
I look forward to meeting with you soon. I'll elaborate on my work experience--which seems to complement your needs--and supply you with strong references at that time. I can be reached during the day at (203) 555-1818, or evening at (203) 555-5067. I will follow up in a few days to ensure that my resume was received. Thank you for your time, and I'm looking forward to discussing the position with you. Closing Paragraph:
Should show your interest and initiative by stating your readiness for an interview and your plans to follow up with them soon. Also, thank them for their time.
(single blank line)
Sincerely,
